The Tramp Frenchie, Deux
The sister to the first Frenchie, this charming Spanish pencil sketch from 1910 is elegantly showcased in a meticulously hand-carved tramp art frame, a true testament to 19th- and early 20th-century folk artistry. Tramp art emerged as a unique craft among resourceful artisans—often itinerant workers or farmers—who repurposed discarded wooden materials like cigar boxes and packing crates. The distinctive layered notching and geometric motifs exemplify the artistry and ingenuity of this era. We have found a maker who keeps this craft alive, and made this frame custom for The Beaux Store.
Perfectly paired with the delicate drawing, the frame adds depth, texture, and a touch of history. Signed and behind museum glass.
