From 1944 Sweden, this stunning floral still life has one of the most exceptional daffodils and frames we have ever seen. A green vase anchors the composition, holding a lively arrangement of lilies and tulips in tones of scarlet, saffron, and ivory, their petals rendered with thick, confident strokes of impasto. The background is soft and weathered, allowing the flowers to feel almost luminous against the subdued backdrop. Framed in an ornate, gilded frame, it that echoes the painting’s timeless character. It is signed and dated by the late artist and the original frame is almost in perfect shape which is rare for its age. An oil on panel.
