A wonderfully crisp geometric abstraction from the midcentury era, built from interlocking blocks of cobalt blue, vermilion, emerald green and warm ivory against a brilliant blue ground. Heavy black lines wander through the composition like an improvised grid, connecting and interrupting the coloured forms and giving the piece a playful sense of rhythm. There’s a lovely tension between order and looseness here, distinctly modernist in spirit, but graphic enough to feel remarkably fresh. The generous cream mount and slim silver frame give all that saturated colour exactly the breathing room it needs. Swedish.
