The Art Nouveau Tile, Deux

Another wonderful British Art Nouveau tile, this one with a particularly bold, almost graphic floral design. The stylised bloom is rendered in warm ochre, cream and caramel glazes, balanced by deep green curling leaves against a pale yellow ground. There’s something brilliantly modern about the simplicity of the composition despite its age. Supplied with a plate hanger, and ready for the wall, we especially love these tiles slipped unexpectedly into an art stack, where their colour, gloss and dimensional surface break up a grouping of paintings and works on paper.
