A beautifully restrained abstract still life, built from softly overlapping planes of powder blue, celadon, ochre, forest green and tobacco brown, with a brilliant little interruption of red near the lower edge. The composition has a distinctly midcentury sensibility: geometric without feeling rigid, and wonderfully confident in its use of colour and negative space. Brushwork remains visible throughout, softening the architecture of the shapes and giving the painting a lovely, tactile quality. Quiet from across the room, but increasingly interesting the longer you look at it.
Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth.
