The Cyclamens

A Danish still life from the second half of the 20th century, painted with a wonderfully restrained modernist sensibility. A white potted flowering Cyclamen, pale blue cup and tall earthenware jug are reduced to broad, confident shapes, with deep forest greens and tobacco browns set against softer notes of powder blue, cream and sage. There’s something particularly excellent about the slightly flattened perspective and unfussy brushwork, coming together as domestic and familiar, but with enough abstraction to keep it interesting. Finished in the original gilt and linen-lined frame.

Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth.
