The Glass

A beautifully observed still life built around the cool translucency of an aqua-green goblet, set amongst pears, an apple and loosely folded paper. The artist handles the everyday objects with wonderfully economical brushwork, balancing celadon, pale blue and soft apple green against earthy browns and flashes of dusty pink. There is something pleasingly unstudied about the arrangement, almost as though the remnants of lunch have simply been left on the table, while the worn wooden frame gives the whole piece an especially warm, collected feel.

This piece will ship next week when it is back from the framers getting a new backing put on.

Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth.
