The Sound

A wonderfully graphic coastal landscape, painted with a distinctly Scandinavian modernist eye. The rocky shoreline is broken into broad, almost mosaic-like passages of rust, slate, moss and charcoal, set against an expanse of brilliant Nordic blue. Small red-and-white houses tucked beneath the dark trees give just enough sense of place, while the simplified forms and flattened perspective pull the composition towards abstraction. There’s a lovely crispness to it, rugged rather than picturesque, and the warm, intricate frame plays beautifully against all that cool sea and sky.

Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth.
