The Woman in a Blue Room

A large, wonderfully expressive Danish figurative painting, built from loose, instinctive brushwork and a beautifully off-kilter palette of sea green, turquoise, slate blue, chalky grey and flashes of yellow and red. The elongated figure emerges almost abstractly from the surrounding interior, with forms dissolving into one another in a way that feels distinctly mid-century and modernist. There’s a brilliant tension between softness and confidence here...gestural, slightly strange and very chic. The generous scale gives it serious presence, while the simple warm wood frame keeps the whole thing grounded. One of the largest pieces we have had in the Beaux Studio.

Keep out of direct sunlight and gently dust with a soft cloth.
